Kill vampire energy use

Charging computers and other electronic devices over night is not necessary. The District has a few thousand laptop computers in charging carts outside classrooms. Letting these remain plugged in overnight bleeds small amounts of electricity - it's like a thousand pinpricks bleeding a patient every single night. A no-cost way to realize instant savings is to ask each teacher and administrator to unplug these charging carts when they leave the building at the end of the day. They should be asked to plug them in first thing in the morning. These days computer batteries take very little time to fully charge. Having these carts off during weekends and holidays would save even more money.

A very rough estimation if the carts are turned off each night:
If the district has 300 charging carts (each with about 10 computers? that's about what I see in our school) and each cart is off between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 am and the savings is about 5 cents /cart/night then the math looks like:

5 cents x 300 carts = 1500 cents = $15 each night
270 school days (nine months) = $4050 saved each school year

That could buy a lot of paint, carpet, lighting (which our school needs), and safety features - like door buzzers.
