That MIllard will hardly notice the change when the new federal rules on school foods goes into affect is disconcerting to me. Is Millard happy to be the new average in the food department? Most of us feel that what we have is not great - even if it is better than most places in the country. I feel strongly that feeding our kids healthy foods is as important as building security. To help Millard to up it's game: 1) Embrace the Oklahoma scenario described by ChristyH4. It sounds like an ideal dream come true for parents who care what their kids eat at school. Good food does not have to be expensive; leverage the *cooking* experts who know how to make it happen. 2) Drop fried foods for all but 1 day/month and come up with rotations of ALL healthy options. Put it in place for 5 years before changing anything. Kids will get used to it and LIKE IT. We are the grown-ups. We know what's best. We make the rules. more in the comments section
