Create study guides for online use. Let kids study what they are interested in. Autodidacts are always the smartest and historically the best thinkers AND doers. Schools have turned into massive, expensive white elephants that have become government/corporate indoctrination centers. Computers and the internet are where the world's information is stored now, they are easy to use and they are inexpensive. Compulsory schooling should be shrinking in the information age, logically. Don't we just have teachers and administrators to be self-appointed information gatekeepers (for OUR children) at this point?
