Magnet Style Middle schools like OPS

In OPS, when you get to middle school you can choose a path. Some middle schools are geared towards science and math, others towards writing, art and drama. Obviously, if there are more students, we will need more buildings. You can only put so many bodies in a classroom. We already have a partial Montessori Middle school, and a partial IB Middle school. Those could become full-time Montessori and IB, and we could have a Core middle school too. The other middle schools could specialize if they choose. My 8th grader was disappointed this year when he didn't get the electives he wanted. He prefers IT and computer type electives. He got a couple, but also got sewing, print making/fibers, and managing money which he is not looking forward to. With specialized schools, the electives would all be geared towards the specialty of the school. Of course the new schools may be built further south or west and may require some bussing. Lots to consider.
