My son was allowed to leave the after school tutoring program, he skipped it, made a call to me and pretended to talk to me when he got my voice mail. But no one at his school verified where he was supposed to be or verified with who he was supposedly talking to that he was supposed to walk home instead of being picked up as normal. Yes, he lied, but there was a lack of safety checks in place for any child leaving school without being checked out physcially by their parent. He was then allowed to walk home not knowing if that's what he was supposed to be doing or not or if anyone was there. What if something happened to him on the way home? Who would be liable? I would be very upset with the school for allowing him to leave without talking with me.
