More and more parents as well as students are constantly "connected" via SMART phones to the internet, Facebook, instant messaging and emails. Keeping strong communication with parents in the ways that they are already "connected" is a great way to keep them engaged with upcoming events. The Engage Millard site connected with Facebook is a great start to keeping parents more involved in that they can be updated with school news in the same way they are updated about friends and family. By making school news a part of their daily "Newsfeed" on Facebook and taking out the extra step to go to a school website Millard is ahead of the crowd. Next steps might include school sites, grade levels or individual teachers keeping connected through Facebook as well. Of course, continuing to share information with parents via school websites, email, AlertNOW and text messaging is crucial. This is one suggestion that could help keep many parents engaged in the daily activities, learnings and events in their students school.
