I have seen a parent group work tirelessly to help families placed in difficult circumstances because of the state "excessive absenteeism law" and the district absenteeism policy. I listened and watched and participated as parents worked to encourage the district to give the right back to parents to choose appropriate absences for their children. Though the district was unwilling to return full rights to parents, they added vacation time, allowances for military, etc. This was done through the efforts of the Millard Parent Society. I am grateful for their hard work and dedication to the parents and children of the district. I am grateful the district chose to listen and that positive changes were made.
