Stop paying for AP tests

Yes that is a nice perk and my family will benefit greatly. This spring, my sophomore will be taking his first 2 of 8 planned AP tests during his HS career. I realize this money comes from the Foundation, but that foundation money could be spent on other needed programs. I know of former student who were coerced/harassed by teachers to take the AP exam when it wouldn't benefit them - for instance their planned college course of study wouldn't accept the AP credit even if they earned a 5 on the exam (i.e. engineering major would only benefit from calculus based Physics and we offer algebra based.) Also students would be encouraged to study more if their parents were footing the bill. When it's not your money it can be viewed as just a 'bonus' if you pass the exam. Many families choose to pay the $250 to dual enroll because that is less than 1/2 of normal college enrollment costs. Likewise parents are happy to pay $90 for an AP test to see if they can avoid the normal tuition.
