My two that will be going into 2nd and 3rd grade next year both enjoy time on the computer playing either educational games or strategic games. So for the summer I tried something new. to earn 30 mins on the computer they need to do two pages from lesson books for their level and write me 5 sentences on a grade level appropriate lined paper. My son needs practice with the legibility of his writing and my daughter could use more confidence with her math. so the lesson books are one is math and another is reading. if they want more than 30 minutes after their 30 minutes is up, they need to complete another set of 2pages and 5 sentences. Schools only been out a little over a week and so far I've stuck to my guns and have had a few whines from my son. but in the end he does the lessons if he wants to get on the computer.
