Within District Transfer

While this idea sounds so wonderful, the school district makes it very difficult to do so. I live in a neighborhood that is 8 blocks big and fewer than 50 elementary students yet our "neighborhood" school is approximately more than 3 miles away. Would not be such a bad idea if there was not 5 other elementary schools closer to us. The surrounding neighborhoods all go to a different elementary school. We have one school less than 8/10's of a mile from our home(new school) YET we are forced to attend one so far away. Applying for a transfer does no good as the district tells you all the schools are full, however, one administrator told us that we could certainly move into a neighborhood closer to the school we wanted and we woudl be able to go there. How is this closed then? And to be told to sell and move, don't we pay taxes for our schools and the right to transfer should be looked at more thoughtfully. Realigning the school boundaries is another issue that Millard really needs to consider. To pick a neighborhood just 8 blocks and less than 50 elementary children and force them to a school so far just because people move further west causing this school's enrollment to drop--realign school boundaries. In just 3 blocks of our house 6 children have opted to go private instead of the force bus/enrollment to this school. Many of us have picked childcare close to our home which also transport to schools HOWEVER not one so far. Think about your families and do some serious consideration to realigning before saying you allow transfers. The only schools open are if you MOVE into the neighborhood, not for inter-district transfers. We have tried to now 3 years to transfer with our application in for this 3rd year. It would be nice to not PAY for an education at a private school and actually utilize the public education we moved to Millard for without having to rearrange our work obligations and daycare choices because Millard can't get it right
