I would like to see Millard adopt a HAL reading curriculum for Middle School students and clustered so that students with a verified need in reading have the opportunity to receive weekly instruction at their level. Research shows the benefits of cluster grouping for All students and a curriculum would support the efforts of middle school teachers working to differentiate. With clear weekly HAL reading curriculum units in elementary and Honors English opportunities in high school, I do not understand the gap of clear,consistent (weekly), HAL reading curriculum in middle school.
