MPS needs to develop an online tool that allows parents to track and check what classwork students are currently working on. A real time tool that we can track 'weekly' progress and their work. It would be helpful if it would include what homework is due and also if a student has any late homework. Also, it needs to include information about any upcoming tests the students may have. The parent portal is not a useful tool. By the time the parent portal has any information about homework, tests and grades it is too late. Parents need a proactive online tool to help us keep track of our childrens work and wha they need to study. My student is an elementary student and every Friday he gets a 'newsletter'. It does describe what the students are learning, but it doesn't provide any information about homework. Also, all the newsletter will state 'Monday-Science Test, Tuesday-Math Test'...okay, over what??? What will the Science Test cover, what will the Math test cover??? I am having to constantly email my son's teacher to find out what they need to bring home to study and what homework they need to complete for the week.
